What can a Thigh Lift achieve?

A thigh lift effectively eliminates loose skin and fatty deposits from the thighs to produce a more toned and defined look. A thigh lift may also achieve a thigh gap if the patient desires it.

Why should I consider a Thigh Lift?

Many people have loose, hanging skin and fat deposits that cling to the thighs either as a consequence of weight loss, or as a result of the aging process. A thigh lift tightens the thigh muscles, trims away excess loose skin, and extracts fatty pockets from the thighs, resulting in a smoother and more toned contour. Your clothes may fit better following this procedure, which may also boost your confidence and self-esteem.

Does a Thigh Lift produce a Thigh Gap?

Possibly. Many patients want slimmer, shapelier thighs, and many desire a thigh gap, or a space between the top of the thighs. While it does depend on the natural shape of your thighs, a thigh lift can usually achieve “the gap” in most patients.

Who should consider Thigh Lift surgery?

Adults who are in good health and maintain a stable weight are ideal candidates for a thigh lift procedure to eliminate loose folds of skin or fatty bulges in the thighs. Those who are still in the process of active weight loss are advised to hold off on the procedure until they reach a more stable weight, as future weight loss may affect the results of your surgery. A consultation with Dr. Bootstaylor can help you determine whether a thigh lift is the most suitable option for you at this time.

How is a Thigh Lift performed?

The thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia. Excess fat and skin are extracted through an incision along the inner thigh, and liposuction is typically used to re-sculpt shapelier and more toned thighs. A thigh lift typically takes about three to four hours to perform, unless combined with other procedures.

Dr. Bootstaylor performs surgical procedures at Emory University Hospital Midtown and  Northside Hospital.

What about recovery after a Thigh Lift?

You should arrange to have someone drive you home after surgery and provide basic care for a few days while you recover. Some swelling and discomfort is normal and typically lasts a few days, but these symptoms subside naturally on their own. You will be instructed to wear a compressive support garment on your thighs for three to four weeks to ensure optimal healing. After this time, you may gradually resume normal physical activities, including sexual activity. A thigh lift leaves a very faint hairline scar that is discreetly camouflaged on the inside of each thigh. These scars will fade away gradually over time.

Are results permanent?

A thigh lift may provide long-term results as long as you maintain a stable weight and active lifestyle with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
