It’s important to remind our patients that their procedure is our own; we are in this process together. A Breast Lift usually takes 2 to 4 hours and is done under general anesthesia. Once you’re comfortable, Dr. Lissa will begin by making her incisions. The most common procedure tactic involves an anchor-shaped incision following the contour of the breast. The incision outlines the area from which breast skin will be removed and defines the new higher location for the nipple. The skin surrounding the areola is brought down and together to lift and reshape the breast. We then use stitches around the areola in a vertical line downward from the nipple area and along the breast’s crease. If you have an implant inserted along with your Breast Lift, it will be placed in a pocket directly under the breast tissue or deeper under the muscle of the chest wall.

Breast Lift Recovery

Recovery from your Breast Lift is a gradual process. Dr. Lissa will give you detailed instructions for resuming your normal activities. Although you may be up and about in a day or two, you shouldn’t plan on returning to work for a week or more, depending on how you feel. You will be sent home with an elastic surgical bra designed to support the breasts while they heal and help minimize post-op swelling. Under this, a support bra with removable gauze pads and steri-strips covering your breast lift incisions. You should also avoid lifting anything over your head for three to four weeks.
